Thomas Weir Taft, 81 of Upper Freehold Township, died Wednesday in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton. Born in Ransom, PA, he resided most of his life in Hightstown before moving to Upper Freehold Township 29 years ago. Thomas owned and operated Wagner Trucking for most of his career and eventually retired as a driver from Klein Trucking in 2009. Son of the late Frederick and Martha (Weir) Taft, he is survived by his wife Jeanette T. (Dmuchowski) Taft, a daughter Carol Ann Gregory and her husband Jim, a son Thomas R. Taft, step-son Mark Skodacek and his wife Traci, 2 step-daughters Deborah Smith and her husband David, Rosanne Rapier, 2 brothers Frederick Taft, Albert Taft, sister Phyllis Pesotine, 3 grandchildren Melissa K. Gregory, Thomas J. Taft, Amy Taft, step-granddaughter Shannon Smith and 9 nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 10 am on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. Burial will follow in the Griggstown Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6-9 pm.
