Phyllis McMurtrie, 84, formerly of Pompton Lakes, NJ passed away on January 25. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa and resided there with her family prior to her marriage. She was a homemaker and she also worked for several years at a clothing boutique. Over the years, she was an active member in social clubs where she enjoyed making new friends and volunteering her time arranging various special events. She was also a very devoted football fan, loved to read, dine at her favorite restaurants and spend time with her family and friends. Those who knew her will remember her upbeat, friendly, good natured spirit. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Tom McMurtrie, in 1979 and her four sisters; Barbara, Dorothy, Pat and Canice. She is survived by her loving daughters, Maureen Parisi and her husband, Phil, Megan Stanko and her husband, Tom, Michele Deloach and husband, Grady, her son, Douglas McMurtrie and his wife, Kim; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her loving nieces. As she requested, final arrangements are private and have been entrusted to M.J. Murphy Funeral Home.
