Obituary of Nicholas Josso-Martin
Nicholas Josso-Martin, a deeply caring son, brother, and friend passed away on February 28, 2023.
Nick, born on June 12, 1995, spent his childhood and the majority of his life in South Brunswick, New Jersey before moving to Levittown, Pennsylvania. As a child, Nick was deeply curious, a questioner of all things. He loved to learn (even though he hated school) and he loved to share the things he knew.
At the time of his passing, Nick was working through his recovery with his sponsor and was proud to share the work that he had been doing in his 12 step program. He openly shared about his addiction throughout his journey and worked so hard to battle the disease.
Although Nick struggled with addiction and would self-identify as an addict, the beauty of his life was so much more than that. He was passionate about the people who he cared for in his life, both friends and family, and would do anything for them when they were in need. His deep empathy allowed him to sense when something was wrong and respond with tender kindness. He loved to laugh with others and would frequently share funny videos and stand up comedy routines to help others share in the joy of laughter. He could talk on the phone for hours, although if he missed your call, his voicemail would greet you with his 12 year old voice saying “Hi, it’s Nick,” because he never changed it.
Nick loved scary movies, a good Italian meal, and video games. He took pride in his work and the things that he accomplished. He was a dreamer, and while his dreams for the future shifted and changed with time, these dreams always involved trying to use his life to help others.
Nick is survived by his parents, Lori Josso-Martin and John Martin; his brothers and sister, DJ Josso-Martin, Johnny Martin and Januari Martin; his grandmother, Elsie Josso; his cousins, Samantha Markiewicz, Spencer Markiewicz, and Michelle Crimmins; and countless other family and friends that will miss him dearly. The list of people who cared deeply about Nick and his heart of gold could go on forever. Like you taught us, we’re just going to take this one day at a time. We love you.
