Obituary of Walter A. Reilly Jr.
Walter A. Reilly, Jr., 71, of South Brunswick passed away after a brave and valiant battle with cancer on Monday, November 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong resident of South Brunswick, Walter was born on April 7, 1951, and was a proud member of the South Brunswick High School Class of 1969. Walter owned and operated a business that he started in 1977 in Franklin Park, then known as R & L Collision Center. In 1987, he purchased a parcel of land on Route 1 in South Brunswick and built a large auto body facility known as Reilly's Collision Center, which he operated until he sold the business in 2021.
Walter had a passion for all things automotive, from his business, retrieving vehicles with his tow trucks, to Nascar racing to motorcycle riding. He was also an avid animal lover. Above all, Walter was a family man who shared a very special bond with his daughter, Allison. Walter cherished every minute he was able to spend with his family, especially the lights of his life, his two grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents, Walter A. Reilly, Sr., and Dolores (Peck) Reilly, he is survived by his daughter, Allison O'Neill and her husband, John, of Cranbury, NJ; sister Robin Froehlich and her husband, Ted, of Princeton, NJ; brother Kevin M. Reilly and his wife, Ines, of Tampa, FL, sister Joan Kern of High Bridge, NJ, and his beloved grandchildren, John and Leah O'Neill. Walter is also survived by his cherished canine companion, Dolly, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ. Funeral services for Walter will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, with a prayer ceremony to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial at Holy Cross Burial Park will be private.
