Obituary of John "Roger" Clancy
John “Roger” Clancy, 95, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Kendall Park in 1960 where he was a lifelong resident until 2000 and then settled in Whiting. He was a parishioner for 40 years at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Kendall Park and for 22 years at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. He was a Navy veteran who served during World War II from January 12, 1945 until July 3, 1946. He worked for R Markey & Sons for 30 years until his retirement in 1990. Roger enjoyed family reunions, music, dancing, singing, and old movies.
Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Alice (Fitzpatrick) Clancy; wife Barbara of 55 years; one brother; four sisters; and son-in-law John Gorman; he is survived by his two sons and two daughters-in-law Kevin and Allison Clancy and Thomas and Lisa Clancy; two daughters and one son-in-law Joanne Gorman and Maureen and Brian Sporek; eleven grandchildren Michael, Brian (Nicole), Alyssa (Greg), Ryan (Gina), Jessica (John), Jenna (Jimmy), Thomas (Nicole), Jillian (Peter), Brian (Shanna), Tim, and Kaitlyn (Jarreau); five great grandchildren Sophia, Tilly, Genevieve, Brooks, and Margot (in October 2022); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, August 19, 2022 at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852. Funeral will begin at 9am on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15am at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park, NJ 08824. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
