Obituary of Richard Paul Busher

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Richard Paul Busher passed away on July 29, 2022, following a brief hospitalization. He was 63 years old.

Richard was born September 30, 1958, to John and Irene Busher of Edison, NJ. He was a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Metuchen, and of Georgetown University, both of which provided Richard with cherished, lifelong friends from his student days.

After graduating from Georgetown, Richard pursued a successful career as a financial wholesaler. His career took him around the country, which he enjoyed, and then later to an extended residency in Carlsbad, California, where he lived for over a decade before moving back to NJ.

Richard married Jean Post in 1998. Richard and Jean later separated, however Jean remained a supportive friend to Richard throughout his life,.

Richard’s passions included fishing and boating, playing tennis and golf, and watching nearly any sport.    He loved both organizing and socializing with his wide circle of friends.  Richard loved to laugh and bring joy to others with his charisma and humor, which he did often and well, over the course of his life.

Richard is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Lasky, of Dayton, NJ, and Janice Busher, of Greenville, NC; brother-in-law Robert Lasky, of Dayton NJ; together with three nieces and three nephews: Sarah Lehman, Kimberly Lasky, Christopher Waivers, Michael Waivers, Patrick Waivers, and Katherine Waivers. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2022, St. Augustine of Canterbury Church 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park.

The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road Monmouth Junction and from 10:00 am until the time of the mass at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church.
