Obituary of Audrey Mae Merinsky
Audrey Mae Merinsky was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who passed away on May 9, 2022, at the age of 93. Her last days were spent surrounded by family and friends.
Audrey was born on December 14, 1928, in Cranbury, NJ and is the daughter of the late Marguerite F. Van Sise and James Everett Van Sise and the sister of the late James Everett Van Sise Jr. Audrey graduated from Jamesburg High School in 1946. She worked at RCA Laboratories in Princeton in Business Accounting until she met the love of her life, the late Frank Merinsky II. They were married on September 22, 1951, in Monmouth Junction, NJ. They built a wonderful life together including a beautiful family and a successful business together until Frank’s death in 1963. Audrey was a strong, independent woman who persevered to provide and care for her three young children and ailing parents. She faced challenges head on and found pride in her self-sufficiency. She would fulfill the roll of Business Office Manager at South Brunswick Board of Education and become an active member of the NJEA. Audrey retired from South Brunswick Board of Education after 30 years of service in 1998.
Audrey has lived in Dayton NJ since 1954 but spent many days during the summers enjoying her house at the Jersey shore in Toms River. She enjoyed spending time on her boat with her children, grandchildren and friends skiing, tubing, water skiing, kayaking, and swimming. She loved adventure and traveled with friends after retirement. In her youth, she loved horseback riding through Monmouth Junction where she would rear her horse in the center of town just to scare her mother. She also had a love of gardening, dance, dogs and working on home improvement projects. Her active lifestyle was enhanced when shared with her family and friends.
Audrey is survived by her children Frank Merinsky III, Jill Lancaster and Dale O’Brien, her daughter-in-law Donna Merinsky and Son-in-Laws Brian Lancaster and Darby O’Brien III, her grandchildren, Barry Merinsky, Melissa O’Brien, Ryan Lancaster, Kevin Merinsky, Darby O’Brien IV, Robert Lancaster, James O’Brien and great grandchildren, Kieran Lancaster, Darby O’Brien V, Elizabeth Lancaster.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Audrey will be held immediately following the viewing led by Rev. Wendi L. Werner, Pastor, from First Presbyterian Church of Dayton. Interment will be at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick following the Funeral Services.
