Michael E. Kushwarra, also known as “The Commander”, 61, of Kendall Park, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick with his loving family by his side.
A lifelong resident of South Brunswick, Mike was a presence within the community. With a heart of gold, compassion, and empathy to those that have crossed paths with him, Mike dedicated his life to helping others and his family. He was a proud Officer for the South Brunswick Police Department for 25 years before retiring as a Sergeant for the Traffic Safety Bureau. Prior to his law enforcement career, Big Mike was a proud volunteer for Kendall Park EMS and was also a current member of the Coast Guard Auxilliary and the South Brunswick Republican Committee. He leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten and always cherished. Awarded for his patience, Big Mike was considered everyones “go to” guy. Had a problem? Mike was there. Any questions? He had the answers. His love and wisdom spread far and wide to everyone who knew him, and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to love him and know him for the great man he is and will forever be.
