Obituary of Diana Carolina Somarriba
Diana Caroline Somarriba, age 18, unexpectedly passed on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Edison, New Jersey. Diana was born September 2, 2003 in New Brunswick, NJ to Maria Gloria Rivera and Roberto Somarriba, her parents.
Diana or “Dee” as she was affectionately known, initially attended public schools in New Brunswick Public Schools before coming to the South Brunswick School District.
Diana was known as a joyful, cheerful young woman who always had an infectious smile on her face. In her youth, Diana enjoyed playing soccer and dancing. As she grew older, Diana enjoyed hanging out with her friends, helping others, making people laugh and simply put, anyone who came into contact with Diana knew she was a presence. She had the kind of light that drew people to her because of her outgoing personality. When you met Diana, you never forgot Diana even if you could not pronounce her last name correctly. In her junior year of high school, Diana began to make plans to serve her country in the United States Army after her graduation in June of this year from South Brunswick High School. Diana talked extensively about this plan to her family, friends, teachers, counselors, administrators or any one who would listen. She was excited and rightfully proud of her future plans to serve our country as a Soldier. It had been a dream of hers since she was a child.
Diana is survived by her parents, Maria Gloria Rivera and Roberto Somarriba; Siblings: Cynthia Alvarez, Roberto Somarriba and Ethan Cruz. In addition, Diana was also a Godmother to Alaia Chantel Ramos-Lopez. She leaves to mourn a host of special friends from the South Brunswick Community.
Diana will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who came to know and love her. Without a doubt, she touched many lives with her energy and her passion for life.
