Ronald Henry Humer, 79, of Monmouth Junction passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at home in Monmouth Junction.
Ron was born in York, PA. He spent his childhood in York and moved during his teenage years to Ridgewood, NJ. Ron graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He married his wife Mary in 1965. Ronald enjoyed staying connected to his roots by enjoying his wife’s Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. He loved his sweets and desserts especially chocolate TastyKakes. Ron worked for Applied Data Research in the early days of software sales and development. He enjoyed traveling for work especially to Asia and New Zealand, experiencing many different cultures. He was an avid baseball fan playing 1st base in his day and rooting on his beloved Phillies. Ronald enjoyed outdoor activities such as mowing the lawn, gardening, and grilling. He loved all genres of music, from The Big Chill Era to classical. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were his favorites. On Sundays, he was often found tackling The New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Later in his career Ron became the owner/operator of Camera Video Showplace in East Windsor, NJ. For over 20 years he enjoyed chatting with his customers and sharing his love of movies with them. He got particular joy out of spending time with his two grandsons, often picking them up from school and attending their events.
Predeceased by his loving wife Mary (McFarland) Humer, his parents Charles Edward and Ruth Anna (Henry) Humer, and his sister Anita Reyes Shedrick.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Bree and Paul Powell, two grandchildren Cooper Powell and Brady Powell, a sister and brother-in-law Linda and Bill Lowry of Spokane, WA, and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover, PA.
