Martha M. Truesdell, 87, of Princeton died Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at RWJUH Somerset. She was born in Newark, NJ but shortly moved to Richmond, VA where she spent most of her childhood. She moved back to Newark and worked for several years at Bell Telephone until she met and married the love of her life, Alan. Together they built their home, family and circle of friends in Griggstown.
Martha enjoyed working with people and worked in retail for many years finally retiring at Susan Greene in Kendall Park as Assistant Manager. She was an active volunteer in the Griggstown Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in supporting the firemen during intense fires, fund-raising activities including the department's famous public dinners, and serving in the Auxiliary’s leadership briefly. She was also a member of the Griggstown Reformed Church and actively volunteered there both for their yearly Harvest Home festival and biannual rummage sales.
Daughter of the late Walter and Agnes (Streckfuss) Melchior, she is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years Alan S. Truesdell, her loving daughter and son-in-law Carol and Eric Fisk, two grandsons Alan and Harrison Fisk, her sister-in-law Dana Bannan and many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, December 20, 2021, 11:00 am at the Griggstown Cemetery.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction.
