Dorothy P. Martin, 77, formerly of Spotswood, NJ passed away on December 9, 2021. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Floral Park, NY, and settled in Spotswood, NJ with her husband to raise their family. She worked as a School Nurse for the South Brunswick School District for much of her career at Dayton Elementary School, Deans Elementary School, and Monmouth Junction Elementary School, retiring in 2001. She developed an interest in gardening in retirement and achieved the title of Master Gardener through Rutgers University. Dorothy loved her family, especially her grandchildren, her many friends and traveling. Her greatest accomplishment was building the family lake house on Friends Lake in the Adirondacks where her family and friends would gather in the summer.
Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Mary (Heraghty) Fox; husband John Michael Martin; son Michael John Martin; granddaughter Emily Michaela Murillo; and sisters Anne Tinney and Mary Fox; she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John Patrick and Linda Martin; daughters and son-in-law Erin and Joseph Popolo and Tara Martin; grandchildren Kaylee Murillo, Jack Martin, Dominic Popolo, and Vincent Popolo; sister Kathleen Fox; and brother Thomas Fox.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 1-5pm with a funeral service at 3:45pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852.
