Obituary of Rene Louis de Lizer
René Louis de Lizer, 89, of Monmouth Junction and formerly of Jersey City, NJ, passed away on October 22, 2021.
To those that were close to him, René was known for his resilience and strong will. He was born in Indonesia to Louis and Greet (Margaret) de Lizer. When René was young, his family lived in Holland, and he traveled to multiple countries before eventually emigrating to the United States. Although he had to endure many hardships throughout life, he was always happy as long as his wife of 59 years was by his side. René met Sadie, “the love of his life” as he often referred to her, on a blind date; they married three months after their first date. Together as partners in life, they built a close knit family with their daughter, Francine de Lizer, and granddaughter, Nia Toombs.
In his downtime, René took pleasure in tending to his flower garden, making model airplanes, reading historical novels, watching his favorite weekly television shows, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. He had a passion for photography and worked as a photographic printer making big layout prints for advertising agencies to display. René took pride in hard work and maintaining an organized home.
Predeceased by his parents Louis and Margaret, René is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sadie M. (Muniz) de Lizer; a daughter Francine de Lizer; a brother André de Lizer and his granddaughter Nia Toombs. René is also survived by extended family and dear friends.
