Joan Mae (Pietrefesa) Voorhees entered The Lord's House on October 1, 2021. She was born on March 29, 1934 to the late Joseph and Edna Pietrefesa, She was the wife of John Voorhees, who went home to The Lord in 1975. She was also predeceased a by sister-in-law Hazel White and a brother-in-law Larry Cavallaro, She grew up in Monmouth Jct. NJ, but currently resided, for 58 years, in her North Brunswick home. She attended and graduated from Jamesburg High School. She was a former employee of The Boy Scouts of America at their nation headquarters in North Brunswick, NJ.
In later years, she was employed at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, NJ in accounts payable, from which she retired To many cousins, nieces and nephews she'll be remember as Cousin Joanie or Aunt Joanie She is survived by a sister Edna Cavallaro, a brother and sister-in-law Joseph Pietrefesa and his wife Erika, a brother and sister-in-law Johnny Pietrefesa and his wife Rose. She leaves behind a son and daughter-in-law Wayne and Linda Voorhees, a son Garry Voorhees, and a daughter and son-in-law Jo Ann and Mark Gastineau.
A viewing will be held October 9, 2001 at M J Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Rd, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. A 1/2 hour service will follow provided by Pastor Don Schwing of GraceWay Bible Church, Hamilton NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in her name / memory to The St. Jude Children's Hospital
