Obituary of Robert J. Kramp
Robert J Kramp, 85, of Monroe passed away Friday, July 2, 2021 at home. Robert was born in New York, NY.
“Uncle Bob” as he was known to everyone, was a current employee of South Brunswick Township. He served as an Inspector at Sondek Park.
Uncle Bob served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1962. Uncle Bob served as the Administrative Specialist on Air Force One on flights for both President Eisenhower and President Kennedy. In 1961 Uncle Bob was activated for the Berlin Wall Crisis. He was deployed to the Chaumont Air Base in France. He served as the Hospital Administrator to the Commander and was able to travel all over the world and had the honor of meeting Pope John XXIII.
Uncle Bob was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, a lifetime member of the Air Force Association, member of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, member of the Raritan Traffic Club, ABC Director for Somerset/Hunterdon Counties Bowling Association and received the Presidential Sports Award for Swimming.
Uncle Bob loved Baseball and Hockey. He was a Brooklyn Dodger, NY Islander and New Jersey Devils fan. Uncle Bob’s love for baseball started at a young age. At age 10 he received his certification as an official baseball scorekeeper. Uncle Bob was very involved with youth baseball in South Brunswick township as a member of the South Brunswick Athletic Association(SBAA) and a coach on his great nephew Kevin and Ryan’s travel baseball teams where he was responsible for “keeping the book”. One of Uncle Bob’s favorite trips was to Cooperstown with the SB Viking 12U team.
Predeceased by his parents Alois and Katherine (Frommer) Kramp, two sisters Anna Marie Kessler and Dolores Kramp, and a brother Eugene J. Benick Sr.
He is survived by his niece Kathleen Benick, nephews Robert J. Kessler and Eugene Benick Jr., great nephews, Kevin Kessler Sr., John Kessler, Michael Kessler, great niece Kimberly Kessler and fourteen great-great nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Monday July 12, 2021 at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road Monmouth Junction. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Burial Park 840 Cranbury South River Road, South Brunswick on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at 1PM.
