David Ernest Weiss, 61, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center of Neptune Township, NJ. Born in New Brunswick, Dave lettered in baseball and football at the local high school. Dave raised his family in neighboring South Brunswick and was an avid youth sports coach and spectator throughout his children’s lives. Referred to as “Big Man” by friends and “Big Pop” by family, Dave supervised operations at Merrill Park and Thompson Park for 40 years before reaching retirement in 2018. Known for a big laugh and bigger heart, Dave could be found fishing on a lake or drinking a Miller Lite at a family barbeque. A proud Jets season ticket holder, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, bowling, and the occasional backyard drum session.
Predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Jeanne Weiss, he is survived by his wife Roberta (Buser) Weiss, children Pam, Nikki, and David, sons-in-law Shaun Ruymen and Michael Mariano, four (and counting) grandchildren Braeden, Bryce, Domenick, and Brynnlee, his siblings Ronald and Tamara (Weiss) Ahr, in-laws Cindy Weiss, Robert Ahr, and Joseph Buser, niece Kayla, and nephew Aaron.
