Obituary of Joseph Andrew Ferrara

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, Joseph Ferrara, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 63 from esophageal cancer.

Born September 8, 1957 to Dominick and Donna Ferrara. He worked in the family pizzeria through high school and then began his lifelong career as a licensed operator in water treatment; Stoneybrook Regional Sewerage Authority, Applied Wastewater Services, Shore DePalma, Birdsall and finally Stantec Engineering.

Joe was married to his wife Julie for over 38 years. They were both dedicated Catholics and Joe was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. They raised a loving family of 6 children and 8 grandchildren.

A dedicated family man, Joe spent 15 years as a soccer coach for the South Brunswick Rec Soccer Program. Joe loved playing (and watching his family play) sports, especially golfing with his wife and sons. He also loved crossword puzzles, regular puzzles and anything that challenged his mind. Most of us would say that he would hardly ever be seen without a smile and hearty laughter.

He is survived by his wife Julie, his children Anthony (Kristen Z.) Ferrara, Joseph J (Supadee K.) Ferrara, Stephen (Erin M.) Ferrara, Elizabeth Ferrara, Margaret Ferrara and Michael Ferrara, grandchildren, Kaylee and Cara, Hunter, Kirin and Strider, Luke, Natalie and Paige, siblings Dominick Ferrara, James Ferrara, Shari Oram, Karen Rose and many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 5-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10am at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, 45 Henderson Rd, Kendall Park, NJ 08824. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Foundation at
