Gail Isabel Sprong, 83, of Cranbury NJ, formerly of Monroe NJ, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Born on May 16, 1937, Gail was raised in East Greenwich RI and Jersey City. After graduating from Snyder High School, Gail lived in Bayonne, Edison and the Rossmoor community in Monroe, as well as in California.
Gail was a competitive dance skater based out of the Boulevard Arena in Bayonne. She worked for many years as an executive secretary at Colgate and J&J before retiring years ago. Gail was successful and strongly independent, an intellectual, a dog lover (mostly German Shepherds), and a devotee of all things PBS. She was especially fond of the vocal group Il Volo, whose photos adorned her walls, and enjoyed golf and Scrabble. A master story teller, she relished the role as family historian, even travelling to the Netherlands for “research.” She is described by those close to her as intelligent, razor-sharp and thoughtful, and always ready to regale listeners with anecdotes of her life and times and those of her family.
Gail is survived by her loving brother Garrett of Nutley NJ, and her nephews David and Garry, and Garry’s wife Maureen. Gail is also survived by her grandnieces Alison Rainis, and her husband Joseph, and Jillian, and her grandnephews Ryan and Cameron. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, Isabel (Bollenbach) and Leo.
