Joan Elaine Zapf, 86, died peacefully at home under hospice care on September 7, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Eric; their 4 children, Roslyn Hontz of Hudson, FL, Donalee (Brett) Bewley of Mason, OH, Eric Michael Zapf of Okeechobee, FL and Lori (Geary) Hollingsworth of Harleysville, PA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Joan was born on August 13, 1934 in Jamesburg, NJ, daughter of the late Herbert H. Strong and Eleanor Schenck Strong. She graduated from New Brunswick High School. Joan enjoyed working as a secretary and administrative assistant. Her first job out of high school was at Rutgers University. She handled the bookkeeping for her husband’s business, E-Z Die Service, for many years. Her last job (which was her favorite) was at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Princeton, NJ.
Joan was a member of the Kingston Presbyterian Church for 57 years where she served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, Elder and Clerk of Session. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed reading, corresponding with others, writing poetry and studying the Bible. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A private graveside service will be held at the Kingston Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Arrangements are being handled by M.J.
