Joseph M. O’Leary, 53, died peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2020 after battling Stage IV Esophageal Cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born in Princeton, NJ, and was a lifelong resident of Monmouth Junction. He graduated from DeVry University in 1987 with an Electronic Technology degree, and was employed for nearly 23 years as a Tech Support Engineer IV at Dell EMC. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Church. Family was the most important thing to him, and he loved the simple things in life. He enjoyed camping, attending concerts, flying model airplanes, and going on vacations. He will be remembered for his mechanical ingenuity, love of music, athleticism, and passion for computers. He was selfless, humorous, and generous. He will be greatly missed.
Son of the late Patrick and Theresa (Orth) O’Leary, he is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Karen L. (Piccirillo) O’Leary, three daughters, two sons, and a son-in-law: Shannon and Sean Conner, Kelsey O’Leary and her fiancé Neal Hanna, Joseph O’Leary, Kyle O’Leary, and Lindsey O’Leary; three brothers, two sisters, and two sisters-in-law: Patrick and Nancy O’Leary, Kathleen Potts, Mary Carlson, Daniel and Patty O’Leary, and Michael O’Leary; a granddaughter: Claire Conner; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Salvatore and Nancy Piccirillo; and 24 nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Restrictions, the visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, Monmouth Junction.
