Obituary of Walter Henry Weiss

Walter Henry Weiss passed away on January 6, 2020, at the age of 91. He born on April 27, 1928, in the Bronx. Walter was the son of Ralph and Esther Weiss, and the brother of Stephen Weiss. He both attended and was a counselor at Camp Mohican (which later became part of Camp Ramah), which was partly owned by his family. Walter graduated from City College, NY, with a Bachelor of Arts, and from New York University, with a Masters in Business Administration. He worked as an accountant and comptroller, and enjoyed opera, astronomy, dining out, sports, and all things mathematical. He read several books a week, and had encyclopedic knowledge. Walter relied on libraries throughout his life, from his childhood in the Bronx to most recently East Brunswick and South Brunswick. He was predeceased by Carol Taube Rifkin Weiss, his love and wife of 58 years. Walter is survived by his three daughters, Ellen Weiss (Nathan Copple), Roslyn Socolof (Elias Socolof), and Nancy Weiss (Paul Rieder), and grandchildren, Rachel and Thomas Socolof, Kira Weiss, Sonia Copple, and Lillian Harding-Rieder.
