Evandos Jackson Jones, 63, of Princeton died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Richmond, VA he resided in New York before moving to the Princeton area in 1989. Evandos had a 20 year career in pipefitting as an engineer, designing fire prevention systems. Upon retiring from pipefitting he became the owner operator of Van the Man Home Improvements.
Van loved music from a young age, he received his first “Mickey Mouse” guitar at the age of three. He went on to play base guitar with Bushwick church Choir. By the 1970’s he was a professional musician preforming with the New York Soul Syndicate. They recorded the soundtrack for the movie Velvet Smooth in 1974. Van also loved high performance automobiles and enjoyed rebuilding and restoring them.
He is survived by his loving wife Jane Baird Jones, a son Benjamin B. Christensen (Gina), a daughter Kayla Jones, his parents Charlie and Vivian (Jackson) Jones, 2 brothers Robert Jones, Ivian Jones and 3 grandchildren Lucas, Ella and Benjamin. As well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
The Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Six Mile Run Reformed Church
3037 Route 27, Franklin Park, NJ.
Burial will follow in the Griggstown Cemetery, Griggstown.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Rutgers Cancer Institute or Children Hospital of Philadelphia.
