Obituary of Joyce A. Corrica
Joyce Anita Corrica known as Aunt Joyce was born on the 23rd of Jan 1924 in Farm Mahaicony, Guyana.
She was the older child of Alice Gittens(deceased) and Earnest Gittens (deceased) and the loving sister of Sydney Gittens (deceased).
During her early childhood she moved to Linden where she grew up, forming many lifelong friendships. On becoming a teenager and finishing school she moved to Georgetown to commence commercial studies. On completion she moved back to Linden where she worked as a receptionist at the Demerara Bauxite Company after which she became a teacher to young kids for several years. After marriage to her late husband Arnold Alphonso Corrica she moved back to Georgetown.
She lived most of her life as a homemaker pursuing her passion of designing and dress making. Her last job before leaving Guyana was at the Planned Parenthood Association mentoring teenage girls and teaching them how to sew and develop good life skills. She migrated to the USA in the early 90’s. She will be remembered by many for her passion of dressmaking and her generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to all in need.
Joyce Anita Corrica was predeceased by her husband Arnold Alphonso Corrica, her parents Alice and Ernest Gittens, her brother Sydney Gittens and her adopted daughter/ niece Lynette Marilyn Gittens. Joyce Anita Corrica is survived by her daughter Arlene Allison Corrica-Hamilton, her adopted daughter/ niece Anita Angela Gittens and son/ nephew Hugh Martin Gittens and step son Roy Corrica. Her grandchildren Arlan Alexander and Cayla Elise Hamilton Son-in-law, Cuthbert Egerton Hamilton Nieces: Carlotta, Shureen and others Nephews: Andrew, Ray, Colin and Shane Great nieces and nephews: Tumeco, Tumeca, Petulah, Ryan, Ruschelle, Sheldon, Osei and Cory amongst others Great, great nephew and nieces: Kassidi, Emmanuel and Lynden amongst others. Cousins: Maureen and Esme Prince. God-daughters: Bergette and Eloise
The family would like to extend our greatest and warmest gratitude to Amanda, Comfort and Sandra for caring for her during her last days as her health declined.
The viewing will be held on July 10th 2019 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at MJ Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Rd.At New Rd., Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 Church service will be held at St. Cecilia Church, 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852 at 11:00 am followed by the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 840 Cranbury Rd, East Brunswick, NJ
The repass will be held at Aroma Royal Thai cuisine 3175 NJ-27 Franklin Park, NJ 08823 at 1:00 pm where we will receive family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by many.
