Obituary of Patricia A. McManus
Patricia Anne McManus, formerly of Kendall Park, a resident of Monroe Township passed away at the age of 88, on Sunday, June 9 at Robert Wood Johnson hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, after a battling a long illness.
Patricia was born in New York City to Frederick Augustus and Elizabeth Conlon in May of 1931. She graduated high school in 1948 from Sacred Heart of Mary located in New York City. On November 3, 1956, she married the late John Jack McManus where they lived and raised their children together in South Brunswick, NJ, before she relocated to Monroe Township. She attended college later in life where she graduated from the Rutgers University in 1980 with a degree in English Literature and a minor in Business Administration. She worked as a Business Manager for various departments for Rutgers University for 34 years before she retired.
Patricia talents were many, she was an amazingly strong woman, beloved wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, Aunt, and friend who had a zest for life. She had a thirst for education, knowledge and independence and was extremely inquisitive. She was graceful, elegant and stylishly glamourous. She enjoyed camping with her family in the early years, loved to travel and enjoyed family vacations, and was always up for a road trip. She was an avid bargain shopper; her weekends were filled with antiquing and estate sales. She was the life of the party and had a great sense of humor. She was a mother to many, a friend to all and her gentle touch will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her.
Patricia is survived by her brother Joseph Lee Clark of Durham North Carolina; her children Stephen John McManus, Diane Marie McManus-Erga and her husband Rolf Erga, Lisa Susan Estler-Readie and her husband Robert Andrew Readie; her grandchildren Garrett David McManus and his wife Laura Marie McManus, Kali Patrice McManus, Conor Robert Estler, Benjamin Reidar Erga and Joshua Gilbert Rouse Erga; her great grandchildren Dominic Vincent Riffel and Aubrie Lynn McManus and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her brother, Frederick George Conlon and her sister, Joan Elaine Leddy.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Patricia touched are invited to Murphy’s Funeral Home located at 616 Ridge Road Monmouth Junction on Thursday, June 13 from 7-9pm, Friday, June 14 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and to celebrate Patricia’s life. Her wonderful spirit, joy, and talents will be rejoiced at a 9:30 am funeral service at Nativity of our Lord Roman Catholic Church located at 185 Applegarth Road Monroe Township on Saturday, June 15. The burial will follow at Griggstown Cemetery locate at 1033 Canal Road, in Princeton where she will be peacefully laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
