Obituary of Carmelina M Morelli
Carmelina M. Morelli, (Millie), 92, of Dayton died peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at her home. Born in New York, NY, she spent summers in South Beach on Staten Island. She moved to the Island at the age of 13 and resided there most of her life before moving to Dayton NJ in 2004.
Before becoming a full-time homemaker, Millie was employed as a telephone operator in the 1940s and early 50s when operators were required to connect callers via large switchboards. She excelled in her position and advanced to handle international calls and troubleshooting issues. She was an avid reader who enjoyed dancing, cooking, baking and sewing but most of all loved spending time with her family and extended family. Millie was a parishioner of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church.
Daughter of the late Giacomo and Saveria (Squatrito) Zerbo, wife of the late Antonio Pasquale Morelli, sister of the late Vincenzo Zerbo, she is survived by her children and their spouses Frank and Donna Morelli, Genevieve and Darryl Jensen, Sarah and Paul Passero, Jack and Traci Morelli, 9 grandchildren and their spouses Jennifer and Gene, Susanne and Jonah, Christine and Adam, Amy and Justin, Jacqueline and Ricky, Brian, David, Gabriella, Olivia, 6 great grandchildren Carmelina, Eliza, Giada, Giulia, Evelisse and Stella.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction New Jersey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 12, 10:00 am at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park. Burial will follow in the Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
