Obituary of Waclaw "Van" Chmara
Waclaw “Van” Chmara, 77, of South Brunswick passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.
Born in Poland and was a resident of South Brunswick. He was a social studies teacher and soccer coach for J.P. Stevens High School in Edison. Van was an active parishioner of Queenship of Mary Church and enjoyed gardening.
Son of the late Michael and Helen (Byczkiewicz) Chmara, and brother of the late Henry and Chester Chmara and Janka Proszynska. He is survived by his wife Roseanne Chmara, sisters Mary Wojciechowski and Donna Chmara and her husband Hank, his loving dogs Koko, Autumn, and Hazel, and dear friends Eileen Varia, Hank Gibbs, Danuta and Jaroslaw Smigaj, and Buddy.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 4-8pm at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 9am at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at Queenship of Mary Church, 16 Dey Road, Plainsboro, NJ 08536. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers the family respectively requests donations may be made to Ss. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, 3535 Commerce Rd., Orchard Lake, MI 48324 and write “For Restoration” in memo.
