Obituary of Roger Potts
Roger S. Potts, 85, of Monmouth Junction died Monday, September 3, 2018 at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center. Born in Princeton he grew up in Kingston before moving to Monmouth Junction in 1952. He was a United States Korean War Veteran. Roger retired in 1993 with over 38 years of service as a Distribution Supervisor with PSE&G. He was a founding member of the Monmouth Junction First Aid and Rescue Squad, life member and past president of the Monmouth Junction Fire Department, member of the American Legion Post 401, the State Association of Fire District Fire Commissioners, a member of St. Cecilia’s Church, the South Brunswick Zoning Board, Planning Board and the Board of Health. Roger proudly organized the Fourth of July parades in Monmouth Junction for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time on his boat and with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Son of the late Chester Merchleus and Alice Sophia (Davison) Potts, husband of the late Gloria M. Potts, father of the late Barry R. Potts, Garry S. Potts and brother of the late Chester Merchleus Potts, III, he is survived by 2 daughters-in-law Valerie C. Potts, Kathleen T. Potts, 4 brothers John, Robert, David and William Potts, 2 sisters Margaret Perone and Phyllis Bucconfuso, his grandchildren and their spouses, Barry S. Potts, Gianna and Andrew Vanore, Whitney Potts, Garry S. Potts,II, Danielle and Cuyler Tobin, 4 great grandchildren Xavier, Serafina, Liam and Garret,
The Funeral will be held 9:00 am on Monday, September 10, 2018 from the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge at New Road, Monmouth Junction. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am St. Cecilia’s Church 10 Kingston Lane, Monmouth Junction. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Burial Park.
