Helen Naomi Post passed away on July 20, 2018 at age 92 from complications stemming from diabetes. She was married for 65 years to Philip Post (predeceased by four years). She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1926 and moved to Kendall Park, New Jersey in 1958.
She graduated from The Pratt Institute with a certificate in art illustration and the New Jersey State College with a B.A. in Art Therapy. She later graduated from Rutgers University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She was an accomplished artist who taught painting throughout Mercer, Somerset, and Middlesex Counties for many years. Her work was exhibited throughout Central Jersey.
Helen’s artwork continued to be a source of pleasure throughout her lifetime. She worked in a variety of media, including oil and pastel painting, wood cutting, and collage. Her paintings focused on landscapes and still life but also included a number of abstracts. Her color palette was key to expressing her way of looking at the world. Many of her landscapes were views of areas around Kendall Park and Juneau, Alaska, which she visited frequently to see her son and family.
Helen was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She is survived by her three sons: Mitchell Post of Alexandria, Virginia; Kenneth Post of Juneau, Alaska; and Robert Post of Jamison, Pennsylvania. She also loved and was very close to Jessy and Sam Post, her grandchildren, as well her three daughters-in-law.
The memorial service will be private. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, The Trenton City Museum at Ellarslie www.ellarslie.org is accepting them in her name.
