Arlyne DeSena, 91, a long time resident of Kendall Park, died peacefully Saturday, July 21, 2018 in Princeton Hospital. Born in Brooklyn NY, she was a well known resident of Kendall Park for 60 years. Arlyne was passionate about the arts, reading and classic films. She loved her family and her friends and took great pride in building friendships that lasted a lifetime.
As a devoted and active member in her community, Arlyne always kept her schedule busy and thrived in doing so. She was a constructive leader in every organization to which she belonged. In 1959 she was one of the founding members of the Cooperative Nursery school of South Brunswick. She was an active member of the Democratic Party of South Brunswick, a founding member of Community Without Walls #5 and served as President of the Princeton Chapter of Hadassah. For many years she served as a volunteer on The First Aid Squad of Kendall Park, and was highly involved in Middlesex County Mental Health Players and South Brunswick Senior Center.
Arlyne was a well known and friendly presence in the Municipal Building of South Brunswick where she notably worked for 25 years as the Director of Affordable Housing of South Brunswick Township. She retired in 2012 at the golden age of 86. The community joined together to celebrate this milestone event.
Daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Weinstein) Warren, Wife of the late Louis DeSena, Mother of the late Donna DeSena, Andrea DeSena Johnsen, she is survived by a son and daughter in law Richard and Dale DeSena, Sister and Brother in law Barbara and Tom Ponte, 3 grandchildren Sara Johnsen, Kylie Johnsen, Roman DeSena and several nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
The funeral service will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. Burial will follow in the Wellwood Cemetery, West Babylon, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Without Walls (CWW).
