Charles F. “Butch” Stewart, 83, of Franklin Park died Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Somerset Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Queens, before moving to Franklin Park, NJ 12 years ago. Butch was a United States Vietnam War Veteran. His passion to be with horses started at age 13 at "The Hole" stables in Brooklyn, NY. For 47 years his profession was a Horse Trainer, working with Thoroughbreds and Jockeys, preparing them for the Horse Races. He was a part of key Races such as the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Classic. Thereafter he worked for Dr. John Miller for 15 years as a Manager of the NY State Vetport Facility located in JFK Airport. Butch became a highly respected independent Horse Transporter for various shipping companies, including numerous International shipments. He was also a member of the Masons. He was loved beyond words and will be missed by everyone who knew him. .
Son of the late Lithgo and Marie (Sparrow) Stewart, brother of the late Bill, Joe, Harold, Lithgo, Frederick, Harry, Clara, Frances, Marie, Victoria, Ruth, Ida, father-in-law of the late Rohan V.C. Ryan, he is survived by his wife of 57 years Marie E. (Wilson) Stewart, sister-in-law Anita Rodriguez, son Gregory W. Stewart, daughter Anne-Marie Ryan, grandchildren Zoe and Brandon Ryan, Elijah Stewart-Eastman and wife Shannon, great grandchildren Evera, Sarah and Nyomi Eastman. As well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held from 7:00 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the M.J. Murphy Funeral home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction . The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until the time
of the service at the funeral home.
