Edmund Farris Sr., age 94, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 16 in Princeton, NJ.
Edmund was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 31, 1923 to David and Zakiah Farris. He attended Alexander Hamilton HS in Brooklyn and a graduate of City College of New York. He also enrolled at New York Institute of Photography in NYC, where he honed his photographic skills. Edmund spent most of his life in South Brunswick Township, living in Kendall Park for 50 years.
His career included both sales and photography. Edmund’s work experience included employment with Kraft Foods, Dorsey Laboratories and Pierrel America Inc., where he was General Sales Manager. Later in his career Edmund was also a Sales Specialist at A&S in Woodbridge and Sear-Roebuck in North Brunswick. Edmund owned Studio 17 Photographers in Kendall Park, where he specialized in both portrait, wedding and commercial photography. He was photographer-on-call for the Princeton Packet and Central Post, where he covered both news and sporting events.
Edmund is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Marie, and his two sons and spouses, Steven Farris of Mission Viejo, CA and Edmund Farris, Jr. and his wife Susan of Flanders, NJ. He is also survived by his three grandchildren.
A viewing for Edmund will be held at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction on Friday, December 22 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A service will be held at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home on Saturday, December 23 at 10 AM, followed by burial at Kingston Presbyterian Church, Kingston.
