Dr. Ernest C. Reock, Jr, 93, of Kendall Park died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Born in Belleville and a lover of New Jersey, he and his late wife Jeanne have been one of the original residents of Kendall Park for over 62 years. Ernest retired in 1992 from Rutgers University where he was the Director of the Rutgers’ Center for Government Research (formerly the Bureau for Government Research) for 42 years. He was a recognized expert in the field of legislative redistricting and in school finance and annually spoke at The American Legion Boys State. Dr. Reock was the originator of the Legislative District Data Book and received the Governor’s award for distinguished public service. He was a member of the New Jersey Historical Society as well as a supporter of many charities.
Son of the late Ernest C. and Helen (Evans) Reock, Sr., and husband of the late Jeanne Thomason, he is survived by 2 sons, Michael D. Reock and Thomas E. Reock, and daughter Kathleen Ketofsky and their respective spouses Debi Galik, Fiona Barrett, and Hal Ketofsky. Dr. Reock has 5 grandchildren; Jeffrey M. Reock, Meredith R. Hassell, Aaron L. Ketofsky, Lindsay E. Ketofsky, Kimberly M. Fox and one great grandson Everett Michael Hassell.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date in January. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Planned Parenthood, The Audubon Society or Heifer International.
