Doris "Doll" May Marino, 90, of Kendall Park N.J., died Tuesday in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick, N.J.
Born in 1926 in the United Kingdom, of the late Cecil Jack and Hilda Pinnions, she resided in Bruton, Somerset, England. She served her country as a volunteer for the Royal British Legion during World War II until she moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania as a war bride. In New Brunswick, New Jersey, she pursued a career in nursing, working at Middlesex Hospital and Radiology Group.
Her love of nature, gardening, wildlife, and pets followed her throughout her lifetime. She was a life-long member of the Middlesex County S.P.C.A., and served as its Vice President many years ago. Other interests included embroidery, crocheting, baking her favorite - lemon meringue pies, as well as growing vegetables.
She was preceded in death by brother, Walter Pinnions; sister, Marion Burford; brother-in-law, Tony Lucas; first husband, Nicholas Klebanick; second husband, Dr. Benjamin Marino, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Marino.
Surviving are her daughter and granddaughter, Anne & Jennifer Hanselman, stepchildren, Robert & Joan Marino and their children Terese, Patricia, William, & Cathy, and families. Dr. John Marino & son, Thomas; Marie & David Christenson and their children Eric, James, & Angela and families. From the UK, sister, Jennifer Lucas; nephew Andrew Lucas & wife Sharon and family; brother-in-law, Bryan Burford; niece Sandra Burford, brother David Pinnions & Wendy; brother John Pinnions and wife, Diane, and their children Justin & Cara and families. She will be missed by her friends and relatives throughout England and the island of Malta.
The funeral will be held 12:00pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ 08852. Burial will follow in Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Visitation will be on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the funeral home.
