Josephine Montouri D'Amato

Josephine (Montouri) D’Amato, age 99, entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2017. Josephine was born in Queens, NY on December 27,1917. She was the daughter of the late Angelina and Stefano Montouri. Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Frank D’Amato and they lived most of their life together in Brooklyn, NY where they raised their 3 sons. Josephine most recently lived in Holly Springs, NC and was formerly of Cream Ridge, NJ.

Josephine was a loving and devoted wife, mother and Grandmother, and friend to many. She loved to cook and feed her family, her Sunday dinners brought many generations of family together. She loved her Catholic Faith and was especially devoted to the Rosary. She loved anything Italian. She also loved to knit and crochet, and play bocce. She was a big fan of watching baseball, especially the Mets. Josephine also worked for many years at the New York Stock Exchange, which she was very proud of.

Josephine lived her life full of love and devotion for her family who were her whole world. She was the mother to the late John D’Amato (Barbara D’Amato), Steven D’Amato (Mary Ellen D’Amato) and the late Frank D’Amato (Dorothy D’Amato).

She was a cherished Grandmother, and leaves a legacy of 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, all who will miss her dearly.

Josephine is predeceased by her brothers Teddy Montouri, William (Martin) Montouri, Stephen Montouri, Joseph Montouri and a sister, Grace Gerace. She is also predeceased by her step father, Phillip Bertone. She is survived by her step brother, Joseph Bertone and a step sister, Mary Coticelli. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

The funeral will be held 9:00 am, on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am on Wednesday at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park.

Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
